Project Brock

The Regional EMS Foundation has partnered with the Project Brock Society by supplying AED’s to place in schools in Northern Alberta.

The Program
Our main projects have included AED placements along with awareness and education surrounding the use of these devices in emergency situations. In 2013, we have formed a partnership with Project Brock Society which was formed after 16 year old Brock Ruether collapsed in sudden cardiac arrest at his high school volleyball practice. There was an AED in the school, however no one felt comfortable using it, and devastatingly, Brock passed away. Since that day, Brock’s mother Kim has set out to ensure that every school in our region have AEDs and trained people in place to use the device.
The Regional EMS Foundation has partnered with Project Brock and plans to help them place AEDs in all schools in our region and ensure that staff and students are trained and educated on its’ use.
